Bob Seibels' Desk/Secretary Sign In or Register to add photos

The basic guide I used was Glen Huey's "New England Secretary". He made his of tiger maple, but mine is 30+ year-old S.A. (Honduran?) Mahogany. No edge glued "show" wood - sides and front are all single panels. I made several modifications to the interior as I went along, and I used a whole lot fewer power tools than he suggested. The grain is not filled other than with shellac. I sprayed one coat of garnet and several more of blonde shellac. All surfaces were rubbed out with 0000 steel wool and Woolube. It's going to be a "working" desk, so I added the embossed writing leather.
The desk is ~ 7-1/2 feet tall
